Stewart Stirling, BSc, DipBldgCons, PhD, MRICS, ACIArb - Conservation Surveyor
Stewart worked for many years as a building surveyor in private practice up to Director level, gaining extensive experience in the survey, repair, refurbishment and alteration of historic buildings. He took up academic post in 1992, during which he was responsible for development and direction of Heriot-Watt University's MSc programme in Building Conservation; he was also involved in wide range of research and consultancy projects, relating primarily to the technology and performance of older buildings, and including own doctoral research into the history and conservation of early concrete buildings in Scotland. Stewart has published widely and given many presentations on a variety of topics concerning the built heritage.
Current commitments include provision of architectural and project management services for the restoration of Cottier Theatre and Lansdowne Church, Glasgow as well as several projects in Shetland.
